The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo goes Hollywood

While Stieg Larsson, the famous Swedish writer died, his legacy continued and how; after his death his three novels were published but not only that; apart from Swedish film adaptions, David Fincher decided to make an American adaption of the book.

Though in first instance doubted by critics The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo meets the better amount of expectations. While the Swedish director Neils Arden Oplev stated that he does not understand why Fincher would make a remake of his work when they just can see his adaption and would never create a better Lisbeth Salander (the leading female character) than he did; Fincher continued his work.

So why did Fincher decide to make an American adaption? Simple; the American audience are generally not pleased to watch a foreign film with subtitles. That is why Fincher made his adaption because he wants to show the American audience what a great story it is. Not many American directors succeed on making an adaption of a European film but Fincher’s work is beyond decent and pays a lot of respect to the original story. Apart from 5 Oscar nominations, the film already won several awards, which gives quite an insight in the success of the film. Not to forget; the performance of leading actress Rooney Mara is astonishing.
